Volunteer Opportunities

In The Garden

Grooming 
  • Approximately 2 hours per week. Come by the garden on a Wednesday to learn more
  • Wednesdays between 10:30 and 1:30 from April to October
  • Show up with gloves and weeding tool.
  • Some knowledge of gardening is helpful
Pathway Maintenance 
  • A few hours, mainly in spring and fall. 
As a Steward or Steward’s Assistant for a particular area in the garden
  • Each garden area mimics a Northwest native ecosystem. Each has a Steward who tends to the special needs there.
  • The Steward also helps to decide which plants will be procured and planted there.
  • Stewards should plan to spend 2-3 hours per week. This provides an opportunity for more learning because of their focused involvement.
  • Stewards work as a team, supporting and learning from one another.

As a botanist or native plant expert 
  • Help us identify puzzling plants. 
  • Once in Spring and Fall.

As our Irrigation Support Person
  • Assist in connecting and maintaining the timed drip irrigation system during the summer.

In The Native Plant Propagation Nursery

Located at Finnriver Farm
  • Pot up and label starts for the nursery
  • Move small plants to larger pots
  • Learn how to pot up plants professionally from our Nursery Manager
  • Weed and help build and maintain the nursery infrastructure including irrigation
  • Cashier at plant sales, interact with the customers, set up and break down
