Juniperus communis – Common Juniper

A branched, trailing evergreen 2 – 5′ tall.  Reddish brown shredding scaly bark. Very prickly needle like, lance shaped leaves.

Berry like cones, pale green, bluish black when mature on female plants.

Found in dry open woods and rocky ridges.  Native throughout most of the U.S.
