Phylodoce empetriformis – Red Mountain Heather

An evergreen shrub with erect stems 1 -2 feet tall. Alternate, needle-like leaves with a groove on the lower surface.

Pink to deep rose , bell shaped flowers (erect or nodding) in terminal clusters.

Found above the timberline and occasionally in the lower forest. Requires moderate water.
